So after four very long months we're finally going to close on our house. Right before Mother's Day I saw this house online and it looked too good to be true - everything I wanted in our new house. L & I headed over there to check it out, & I loved it! Don't get me wrong I knew it needed a lot of work but I'd found the one. A month later we finally got a PA in because we'd been a back-up offer, then it was off to the battles & negotiations - I love a good negotiation or debate but even this house wore me down! Negotiations just stopped yesterday & we close tomorrow!
Needless to say L & I have been appliance shopping - very excited for the new stuff to be delivered on Friday! L helped me pick paint colors, I'd narrow it down to 2 or 3 and then lay them out for her to pick the final one, of course then I'd mix them all up to see if she'd pick the same one (I had to make sure it was the one she really wanted). I was surprised almost every time she would pick the same color 3 times, guess she knows what she wants - Love it! Carpet selection is tomorrow & the roof install is labor day weekend ~ whew where's my cocktail?
My latest saga...the sellers pre-signed the documents but conveniently they didn't bring all the keys, garage door opener and key code to their closing - that was Tuesday at 5PM its now Wednesday at 10PM hmmm... I said I'm calling the police if its not at my closing tomorrow AM. Stay tuned...!

Vacation Day 7 - Heading Home
We packed up and headed home today. We had a morning flight out of LAX. We delayed L's nap so she would be tired on the plane. The 3 of us had a starbucks and BK for breakfast. L made friends with another baby while waiting for the flight; there was something on the floor of the airport where the 2 of them were sitting & their pants were filthy all of a sudden! agh, L wore cute white pants! After some bleaching, tide to go & 2 washes I got that out!
L was a great traveler, slept for 1/2 the flight and then played with us & had a snack. No problems with take off or landing. I really think the trick is having her drink a bottle during the take-off/landing because she had no problems with her ears. A few other babies on the plane were screaming! poor babies!
We finally arrived home and L was SO excited to see her old toys, play area, room...she was crawling like crazy around the house & squealing with happiness! All in all it was a wonderful first vacation for L & our family!
OH! I think I forgot to mention in an earlier post, L took a few steps (3 to be exact) on the 27th - almost exactly 10 months old! My little baby is growing up!
Vacation Day 6 - Greystone Mansion, Beverly Hills, Rodeo Dr.
Auntie O had class all day today so we headed up to Beverly Hills to check out the sites. First we went to the Greystone Mansion, it's a huge mansion that was donated (or purchased by?) the city of Beverly Hills, we toured the grounds - the building was closed :-( It would have been amazing to see the inside - you might recognize the mansion in movies like Batman, Spiderman, Ghostbusters, X-Men, Austin Powers, etc!
We had a nice picnic lunch on the grounds, there's a huge beautiful lawn. The yard is filled with little hidden coves, and fountains. I can't imagine actually living in a place like Greystone ~ but I could adjust!
As we were leaving they were holding a photo shoto at the mansion, so there were limos coming & going but we didn't recognize anyone. One group that got out to take pictures and visit the mansion said he was a comedian and in the movie Hancock (I think)...but again...didn't recognize him.
We wanted to take the celebrity home tour but they're 2 hours long and have open roofs...too hot for L. So we drove around and looked at these HUGE beautiful homes! Then headed down to Rodeo Dr. so many fun shops - WAY too expensive for us, but it was fun to walk around and look. There were paparazzi at Barney's but we were inside and couldn't figure out who they were taking pictures of - oh well. Parking - surprisingly was FREE, go figure! We had L in the stroller and were walking up and down the streets, she was so cute just babbling away to herself and screeching at people - cutie!
We headed back for dinner with Auntie O, and packed up for our AM flight!

Vacation Day 5 - Fashion District & Santa Monica Pier
The triple digit heat advisory is still in effect here...it's a scorcher! Auntie O lives about 4 blocks from the fashion district, so we walked down there this morning to score some deals! This place is amazing ~ you can find just about any fabric you can imagine & for dirt cheap! I swear if I knew how to sew I could buy fabric here and make my own tablecloths instead of renting them for clients. I saw some cloths that I rent for $21 a table here for $2.95/yd!
Within the Fashion District is Santee Alley, it's an alley at least 5 blocks long with little store fronts (the kind that is right on the street and you just pull up the garage door). Jam packed with fake designer backs, sunglasses, clothes and more! You could get a plain women's polo shirt for $3 or a graphic tee for $8 ~ bargins! I picked up a shirt, but then the heat was getting to be too much so we headed back for naptime. You could spend a lot of time down there & never see it all!
After a nap and lunch we headed out to the Santa Monica Beach & Pier. Lounged on the beach for awhile, eventhough it's a scorcher in the city it was breezy & cool on the beach. L took a big poo as soon as we arrived!! It was funny to watch 3 adults try and change the poopy diaper without her crawling away :-) L absolutely loves the sand and had a ball at the beach.
Then we walked over to the pier, they had people that would write the letters of your name in designs - kinda cool, I have one with my name from KeyLime Cove's opening. There's a big arcade/carnival area but L was too small for the rides. We walked a couple blocks from the pier and found an authentic Italian Pizzeria ~ great pizza! Of course, L again made friends with a nearby table ~ she's such a character :-)
Then we headed home for the night for a couple wild games of Kings in the Corner & drinks :-)
